Sorry for posting this so late. Rite Aid Load2Card: +Up Rewards Redemption change

Rite Aid is one of my favorite drug store with many deals going on at the same time.
But they are making changes that I am not sure if I am excited about or not.

Beginning, Sunday September 2, 2012 the +Up Rewards that you will earn will be automatically loaded to your Wellness+ card. That means you will not have to remember to bring them with you – when you shop, they are automatically on your card to be used the next day.
You will be able to manage your +Up Rewards on your computer via your online Wellness+ account.

Rite Aid is also launching +Up Text Notifications so customers can track their +Up on the go. Wellness+ members can text “REWARD” to “RATEXT” on their mobile phones to receive a weekly text of the number and value of the +Ups available on their Wellness+ card.

If you do not like them automatically loaded, you CAN elect to continue having their +Up printed on their register receipts if you wish. Just as a register cashier to do that for you. However, THE BIG CHANGE IS THAT +Up Rewards can only be redeemed starting at 6 a.m. on the day after it was earned and expires 14 days after issue.  So no more rolling your +Up into your next transaction. That is true whether you have them printed or whether they are loaded to your card.
+Up will be deducted from total purchase after coupons, wellness+ discount and wellness+ restricted items have been deducted and be redeemed in the increments that they are earned. For example, if you earned a $5 +Up, you will need to spend at least $5 (net sale after coupons, discount and wellness+ restricted items; other restrictions may apply) to redeem your $5 +UP.

The changes are supposed to be convenient for customers that they will not forget their +Up rewards at home or forget to use them in the store. But the change that the +Up reward will only be redeemable the next day might make our shopping habits change a bit. I guess Rite Aid created the +Up Reward program to get people to come back into the store and this is their way of trying to get the program back to the original intent.
