What is Really in Your Honey?

"More than three-fourths of the honey sold in U.S. grocery stores isn't exactly what the bees produce, according to testing done exclusively for Food Safety News."

What is really in your honey? Here is an awesome and informative article explaining what really goes into your honey or to be more precise what they take out of most honey. You might want to know, or might not want to know, but the bottom line is most of the honey we find in grocery and drug stores today have had the pollen removed from them and other ingredients, that you might not want, added.

BUT They "found that every one of the samples ... bought at farmers markets, co-ops and "natural" stores like ... Trader Joe's had the full, anticipated, amount of pollen."

Research in the article has shown that Trader Joe's Grade A Mild Sweet Clover Honey, is made in the United States and clearly has not been stripped of its pollen. After reading this it was very easy for me to decide where to get my honey this year for Rosh Hashanah. Besides, TJ's honey is clearly marked as Clover Honey and tastes much better than the unmarked generic sounding "Grade A" honeys. The reasonable $4.99 price tag does not hurt either. So TJ's honey gives you the most bank for your buck.

Shana Tova to Everyone!
